This is the plaque dedicating the Emergency Room at Harlem Hospital in memory of Marshall England
The CPHS awards are named in memory of Marshall C. England who was the co-chair of CPHS from 1991 until his untimely passing in January 2000.
His memory, spirit, and energy are still very much a part of CPHS. His activism, his commitment, and his belief in people are ingrained in the work of this organization. Mr. England believed in the power of information and the power of people working together for a common agenda to overcome the inequities in our city and neighborhoods. Mr. England has been an inspiration for all of us. His work and dreams are carried out through the work of CPHS and through the work of the public health heroes and sheroes that we honor.
